How I Review

I just wanted to pop in a short page about how I review music after listening to it. It’ll help you see things from my perspective which will also help you decide if its music you would enjoy.

First, I try to listen to every record and judge it’s on it’s own merits. Therefore if it’s generic I’ll mention this but still try to review it based on how it sounds rather than marking it really low for not innervating. If the record does innovate I will mention this but will still judge it on what it sounds like. Something could be generic and really good while something that innovates could be bad for example.

The reason I use a number rating at the end is because I feel it rounds off the review nicely. A lot of the time if something isn’t at least a seven out of ten it’s considered bad, this isn’t true for my reviews because I use the full scale of the one to ten rating system. Here’s a breakdown on what they mean.

10 – Best of the best.
9 – Worth every penny.
8 – Must buy.
7 – Must listen.
6 – Good with potential.
5 – Average.
4 – Below average.
3 – Don’t listen.
2 – Waste of time.
1 – Insultingly bad.

I’m also a musician myself so I understand how much time can go into a record and how much hard work is put into each release. With this knowledge when I’m harsh on records I will always try to suggest and give detailed reasoning behind my judgement. Rather than being needlessly cruel, I want to help artists grow by giving genuine feedback rather than trashing it for views.

That’s how I review stuff! Now you can enjoy and understand where I’m coming from!
